Our club enjoys participating in service projects involving the
communities in which we live. We generally choose projects which
benefit children and moms in need of support. Each year members vote on
which service projects our club should participate for that year. Some
of the service projects we've done in the past include:- SEWING ANGELS
This
organization supplies hand-made blankets to hospitalized kids Members
meet to make blankets. All skill levels are welcomed. Materials are
donated by local stores as well as members.
- READY FOR SUCCESS
This
program provides low-income women with new or gently-used professional
clothing, accessories, and new personal care items suitable for job
interviews and the workplace. Members collect and donate business style
clothing for women in the community.
- TOYS FOR TOTS
The
objectives of Toys for Tots are to help needy children throughout the
United States experience the joy of Christmas; to play an active role
in the development of one of our nation's most valuable natural
resources - our children; to unite all members of local communities in
a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy
collection and distribution campaign; and to contribute to better
communities in the future.
- SHARING & CARING HANDS
Sharing
and Caring Hands is an extension of the community to the desperate
needs of the poor and exists as a vehicle for volunteers to commit
their time and resources towards making a difference in the lives of
others. Volunteering at a soup kitchen is a rewarding experience for
members and their kids.
- CHEERFUL GIVERS
The
mission of this organization is to brighten and celebrate the lives of
families in need by providing toy-filled birthday gift bags for
children who are homeless or living in poverty.
- ADOPT-A-PARK
Twice a year we volunteer at our adopted park by cleaning it up!
- COOK FOR KIDS
Teams
of 4-6 volunteers plan the menu, purchase and donate the ingredients
for a meal, cook the meal, serve, eat with the children and staff, and
clean-up at the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery.
